See, Feel and Hear

Have you ever been asked “what are you looking at”, and that said person is looking in the direction your transfixed on, and when you try to explain it, they don’t see what you see.

As an artist its Interesting that two people can be standing side by side and interpret what they see differently, and hey for those that aren't photographers I'm sure you have experienced something similar in a different situation.

That’s the exciting thing about being true to you and to follow your creative heart. You can remove those blinkers from your eyes and interpret what you see, it doesn’t necessarily have to be as you see it with your eyes. It can be what you see with your soul and how it feels to you at that time.

Focus on what speaks to you.  It's your journey.

What do You see, feel and hear

No two people see things the same way and It’s ok that someone else doesn't like what you've created or how you see things.  Carry on with your Journey! Keep discovering your inner self. You may even surprise yourself. Keep pushing the boundaries.

The saying goes that ‘A picture speaks a thousand words’

Don’t be trapped inside your own boundaries.

See, feel and listen to your own heart. Don’t be trapped within your own boundaries.

See, feel and listen to your own heart. Don’t be trapped within your own boundaries.

As the Dawn breaks

There is something really special about waiting and watching the dawn of a new day break.  When you still your inner self, the experience of watching the dawn break can be awe inspiring and leave you with a sense of wonder.

Be Rejuvenated and Inspired

Mother nature commands our surroundings in such a way that I am continually blown away.  I love to get out with my camera and soak in my surroundings, especially with nature, the trees, mountains and water.  When I am surrounded by any of these elements I am empowered, rejuvenated and inspired.  To become one with nature is to totally immerse yourself and put aside any inhibitions and wait on mother nature to reveal her presence.

Be in the Present

It's a great time to reflect, that is!  When I still myself and actually be in the present.  Sometimes it can be hard to get rid of the chatter that can constantly go on within.  We all live busy lifes and we live in a fast paced world, we have that agenda to do, meetings to attend, get the kids to sports or school.  Whatever it may be it still commands your attention in some way or another.  It certainly is something you have to work at, 'to still yourself' within your surroundings and 'be in the present'.

Quiet your mind and your Soul will speak

See Beyond what You See

I find getting my nature fix nurturing and has helped me on my creative journey.  It empowers me to 'see beyond what I see'.  It certainly shows in my work when this occurs.  Some images are just that a photo of what was there at the time, and there are others that have 'body, emotion and presence'.  Yes of course there's all that technical stuff, but I am talking about beyond that, and without it ... it's just a nice photo. I am not talking about how we become attached to our images/creations. No thats a different thing altogether.  When you can start to see beyond what you see, is when you learn to see with your inner self what I refer to as my soul.  Some never achieve this, and some get to different degrees of it... It's not for me to say 'you haven't achieved it', only you will know and it certainly will show in your images, and as you nuture it, it becomes a part of your style because its a innate part of you.

I see with the Eyes of my Soul

Find You

We all have different ways of expressing ourselves and its important 'to find you' within and on your creative journey.  Find what inspires and rejuvenates you.  It maybe running, walking, snorkelling, or even writing, reading, watching movies, or maybe music it can be a host of things. But find it because that will help you to 'Find You'.  As an artist we work with different, mediums, likes and dislikes, aspirations, goals, failures, blocks, expectations, the list is endless.  Yes its important to find your niche but some of us maybe working in that niche and not even know it and that could be because we haven't really found ourselves.  Food for thought hey...

Its Your Journey

What ever it is, that you do, in the creative arena, enjoy it, take the highs with the lows, its all part of the journey, find the gems along the way.  Throughout all this is growth. If you stumble! Pick yourself up! Keep moving forward! Celebrate your achievements! Keep learning and most of all 'Pass it On'.

As the 'Dawn Breaks over the horizon. Take deep breathes and be 'in the present'.

Feel the Fear and Just Do It anyway

Sometimes you just have to bite the bullet and get in there head on and 'Just Do it'.

Some of my ideals and dreams seem so far out there, that it even scares me... but on the other hand I know I can do it.  It's that silly voice in my head 'fear' that tells me its not possible, or its too hard, also you know there is such a thing as being sensible and make the right choices etc etc... but is that making excuses... mmm

I am sure there are many that can relate to this, no matter where or what you do, we all face 'fear' in some form or another.  So where to from here?

Feel the Fear and Do it anyway.

We surmount fears all the time, yes change is scary, and yes its hard and the unknown can make you feel debilitating. But it carries with it the potential to revolutionise our lives and we don't know it or see it until the transformation has taken place, and we're safely on the other side of our fears and resistance.

'Everything you want is on the other side of Fear' -Jack Canfield

Embrace it

Rather than fear change or trying something new. Embrace it. Revel in it. Don't worry about what others say, its none of their business anyway, stay true to you. It's your life 'Just do it'  Dive into it, and the sea of possibilities it may create. Trust that all the hard work will bring you some refreshing experiences and opportunities, or even a true feeling of happiness and sense of freedom.

Just keep moving forward, and know that you have the power to make choices and therefore in control of the power to transform your life.

Artistic Rhythm

So you ask what has this got to do with my photography or digital art.  Well lots actually, its pivotal to who I am creatively.  I work from the soul, thats where my true self resides and released through my artistic creations.  So in order for me to venture onward and upward I have to 'face my fears' and overcome my own monsters in order to reveal what I call my 'artistic rhythm'.

You Can Do it

What ever it is you face today 'You can do it' just take a step towards your goal, and keep moving forward, each step you take is closer to your aspirations.

Just Breathe

'Inhale the Future, Exhale the Past'

As 2017 comes to a close and we move closer to the dawn of 2018 I reflect on my creative journey for the year.

One of my aims for 2017 was to enter competitions in order to challenge and extend myself, so it was very fitting when in February I was awarded Australian Photographer of the Year 2016-Nature runner-up with a portfolio  and also awarded Landscape category-Merit.   I also entered and I was awarded in the Perth Royal show-Open Colour category-1st and 2nd, Mono category-3rd, and Creative category-Merit, and rounding the year up with being awarded 2nd by Travel Photographer Society with the exhibition to take place in April 2018.  This may not be a major feat for some, however I am extremely happy with my competition outcomes for this years entries.

Throughout the year I pushed myself creatively to try different methods and mediums within digital artistry, although I did a lot of work in this area, I did not present much work beyond my own digital palette.  However I did have several pieces published in Fine Art magazines alongside many other talented worldwide digital artists.

Yet I still find myself doubting my own ability, I don't walk to anyone else's tune, but I do 'stand in my own way'.  This is the year for me to 'move aside' and allow my creativity, my inner soul to lead the way.

This year I also tried macro for the first time and I must say I now know why people love it so much, I saw the world from a different perspective and the minute detail that can so easily be overlooked, in this fast paced and ever evolving world we live in.

I also concentrated a little more on portrait and fashion shoots, and thoroughly enjoyed the concepts and ideas of working with and alongside many very talented artists.

There is so much to learn 'where do I start' as I continue on my journey I am constantly learning, continually pushing myself, always looking for answers and different perspectives as I craft my artistic abilities and find my own rhythm.  I endeavour to explore wider and deeper to touch base with my inner soul, which is the eye of my creativity.

This year has also seen me face many hurdles outside of my creative arena.  My creativity is my solace and on numerous occasions has given me the strength and gems to focus on what lies ahead and beyond the present.

So to round up I have put together a few images that reflect a snippet of my journey for this year.  As the saying goes 'A picture speaks a Thousand words'...

My Soul is Thirsty

'A blog' well this is a new experience for me, new kid on the block so to speak...

Of late I have been in transit for 3-4 months and have felt like I've been in a huge drought... My Soul is so Thirsty... Parched and Unattended... I feel like I've abandoned my muse.  Yet on the other hand I am bursting at the seams to create and get back into the visual rhythm.

As I prepare to move into another chapter and onto unspoken journeys on the horizon, may the flood gates open and my creativity return afresh, rejuvenated with new vision and fire.

May seem rather strange that I have selected this image, however this is the outcome that I envision.

'my thirst to be quenched and my creativity rejuvenated with vision and fire'.
